There are still many plants and insects that survive in winter... so, PIIE lab fieldwork never stops in winter! ;-)

All members went to Jukri early in the morning and did weeding and planted Erigeron annuus and Brassica species. Even we had lab meetings in the field. Thank you all!We recently welcomed a new member of our Lab.
Dr. Nam recently got her Ph.D degree in Seoul National University and received her own NRF grant (2021-2024, ca. $15,000 ). "Exploration on the plant tissue-specific defense strategy against insect seed predators in Brassicaceae" We have cleaned up our field station before starting the new experiments. As all of us agreed, weeds were like devils from the hell... :-( Thank you all !

Gwanhyeong, Ji-yong, and I have been Jeju island last weekend (20210325 - 20210327) to collect cabbage seedpod weevils. Luckily we collected more than 1000 of them! ;-) Now it's time for new experiment!Plant growth room Insect growth room Although we had too many things to do.... Finally, we have gotten independent Plant & Insect growth rooms that can maintain temperature and humidity. Thanks to Prof. Park for sharing the space and all members of PIIE lab for your helps!! ;-)
Recently, we got a new plot for long-term experiments. We planted cold-acclimated daisy fleabane (Erigeron annuus) plants to test their survival rate over winter. Hope all planted fleabane are all fine! Thanks for 관형, 정민, 주희, 지용!
